Most of you know that I’ve been writing articles for Photofocus.com for the last three years or so. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it and never thought of myself as a writer or author but I’m finally starting to feel more comfortable with those titles.
Photofocus is a great team with a community spirit to be part of and that’s a big reason why I enjoy it so much. This year brings on new challenges and roles within Photofocus and I’m really excited to share the news with you.
First of all, I’ve been asked to join the Editorial Board. What? Who’d have ever thought something like that would be in my future? Umm, not me. But, I’m embracing the role and jumping right in with it. Happy to share more, help more of you learn and grow in yet another way.
The second exciting bit of news
Communities are awesome. Especially photography communities. Over the years I’ve been involved in, part of, moderated and headed up quite a few photo communities. Theme-based projects, the Scavenger Hunt, my own See! Community and others. One thing I have learned from all of that is that community-based learning is the bomb! Because we all have something we can teach and always have more to learn, communities with like-minded, like-passionate individuals thrive because we all help each other.
I’m excited to be involved in one more photography community, the Photofocus.com community. Not only am I excited, but I’ve been tagged as the Community Manager. Whee! I love being able to help people find the answers they need, send them in directions they may not have thought of and also do my best to inspire others along the way.
Join the community
You know I would love it if you joined us there. Me and all of the other authors at Photofocus will be on hand, we’ll have hangout events once a month, we’ll all – you included – be sharing images, tips and helping each other learn and grow in our own ways.
It’s FREE! It will be FUN!
