The City in Trees

The City in Trees

I finally got out shooting today.

I haven’t really taken much time lately to go out and take photos just for the sake of taking photos. There is a local forest preserve I like to go to just for the quiet, peace and nature. So today I took one lens, my Canon 100mm f2.8 and that was it. Me, the camera, one lens and nature. The perfect anecdote to whatever might be ailing you (or me).

Pile of Logs

As I drove into the parking lot past the usual parking spaces at the entrance and wound my way back to ‘my spot’ I started to pass a big huge pile of logs. Started to. Then I stopped, parked and started examining the pile of logs. So many opportunities, especially with the macro lens. Textures, twigs, bugs, fungus, shapes, shadows, and some really interesting things to see. So, that’s what I did, until I saw a pattern in a shadow, it was a city skyline. Then I saw another, and another. So, I decided to make a series of it. For once I came home, uploaded images, culled and edited them right away. This is a good habit that I wish was always easy to do.

The Wooden Cityscapes

Here you go – what I saw in the log pile.

Stay tuned

I am working on another post, one which includes what I’ve been up to, what’s been happening with my work and also I will be announcing the winners of the metal prints! Is it you?

As always, I’d love your feedback on my images, the blog, what you would like to hear about, learn, and see from me. Please let me know in the comments.

With appreciation,

Lauri
